Grant from Professional Training Opportunities Program

Interested in worker safety and health? The University of Washington Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety (NWCOHS) invites all to apply for the 2021-2022 Professional Training Opportunities Program (PTOP). PTOP offers small grants for research projects and activities that address worker health or safety. Grants up to $10,000 will be made to applicants supporting their:

  1. Research project or demonstration.
  2. Internship or other learning experience.
  3. An activity or program regarding worker safety and health.

Evaluating Fishermen-led Safety Designs

Be a part of an important paid research study led by Drs. Jay Kim and Laurel Kincl! The goal of this study is to characterize the physical risk factors associated with Dungeness crab harvesting tasks and evaluate the efficacy of fishermen-led interventions that aim to reduce physical risk factors. As a participant, you will be asked to perform a series of simulated harvesting activities for 5 minutes at a time for a total of 4 hours; you will be paid $25/hour. To be eligible, you must be 21+ and demographic information will be collected. Career Webcast: Self-Employment

Come to the OSU Alumni Association workshop on self-employment on June 16, 2021 12-1pm! If you are tired of working up the ladder to corporate offices or wish to have more flexibility in your career, sign up for this workshop. In this webcast, you will learn about what you need to start your own business, basics on self-employment, how to avoid pitfalls, and resources. Alumnis Bruce Hohensee and Kimberly Jacobson Nelson will show you how they started their own businesses and what it takes to join their ranks followed by a Q&A.

Volunteering for Albany School District on Bike Safety

Calling all students! The Albany School District is holding 3-hour summer sessions to teach 5th graders about bike safety for the whole month of July. This opportunity is intended to help children get outdoors, and volunteers are not required to sign up for the whole month. Complimentary Athletic Tickets for 2021 Graduates

Good news for our 2021 grads! Because students were only able to attend a handful of events this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, OSU athletics has decided to provide complimentary tickets to home athletic events for the 2021-22 season to individuals who graduate this year. Ecampus Courses Restriction: Phase I Fall 2021 Registration

The Office of Student Success would like to update CPHHS students regarding Ecampus courses. Starting Fall 2021, the CPHHS will restrict registration access to Public Health Ecampus courses during Phase I of Registration in addition to the HDFS Ecampus courses already restricted. Students can register for Ecampus HDFS and Public Health courses during Phase II of registration. Please visit this website for more information on the Ecampus Registration Restrictions detailing specific courses that are restricted, when it is appropriate to request to enroll in an Ecampus course during Phase I, and how to request enrolling in an Ecampus course during Phase I. 


Food Science and Technology Sensory Lab Assistant

The sensory lab in the Food Science Department is hiring a lab assistant! The sensory lab focuses on running taste tests for food companies. With this position, you will help out with conducting these tests and doing laboratory organization/design to increase the laboratory’s efficiency. Duties include preparing food samples, collecting and analyzing data, and helping set up. Those interested in nutrition are especially encouraged to apply. Service Coordinator Positions with Linn County’s Developmental Disabilities

Linn County is hiring 3 Service Coordinators! As a Service Coordinator, you will assist developmentally disabled eligible individuals with goal setting and future planning based on their wants and needs. This planning often involves working with these individuals’ families, skilled providers, and educational/medical professionals. Additionally, you will provide resources that will help keep patients safe, healthy, happy, integrated, productive and as independent as possible.
