Urban League of Portland Display, 2012<\/p><\/div>\n

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month, the OMA is highlighting the Urban League of Portland\u2019s history of community service and several of its past prominent leaders within the organization. Since 1945 the Urban League of Portland <\/a>\u00a0has advocated for, served and empowered African Americans and other Oregonians to create an equitable place to work and live.<\/p>\n

The display’s Digital Collection in Flickr<\/a>\u00a0includes photographs depicting the organization\u2019s dedication to serving its community through social, civic, and educational activities, group work and recreation, as well as employment training and placement & the Flickr set includes information regarding three past Urban League staff members: DeNorval Unthank, Edwin Berry, and Freddye Petett.<\/p>\n

The physical display will be in the Archives Reading Room, 3rd<\/sup> Floor of the Valley Library through the end of February [there are free pins available!]<\/p>\n

The Urban League of Portland Records<\/a> have been a part of the OMA since 2007 and all materials are available to the public.<\/p>\n
