Plus Mike and Katrina, interns for the collections they are processing for both organizations, have some updates!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n<p>Obo Addy Legacy Project concert:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/oregonmulticulturalarchives\/files\/2013\/10\/randy-weston.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12846\" title=\"randy-weston\" src=\"http:\/\/wpmu.library.oregonstate.edu\/oregon-multicultural-archives\/files\/2013\/10\/randy-weston-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The tribute concert featured\u00a0pianist,\u00a0composer, and Jazz\u00a0master\u00a0Randy Weston. He, along with Addy\u2019s ensemble\u00a0Okropong and the Lewis &amp; Clark symphony, paid\u00a0homage to Addy and his African inspired music.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oboaddylegacyproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Obo Addy Legacy Project Website <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Obo Addy Legacy Project collection updates:<\/p>\n<p>The Obo Addy and Homowo materials continue to yield amazing bits of cultural history.\u00a0 A complete series of posters for the annual Homowo festivals have been identified.\u00a0The various forms of media in this collection continue to be challenging. Oversize archival storage boxes for the large format posters are being sorted at this time.\u00a0The huge volume of materials has been reduced by weeding out the duplicate copies of items such as lobby cards, posters, and fliers.\u00a0The next major project with the collection is to organize and catalog the video and audio tapes, again dealing with duplicates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\">~ Mike Dicianna, Obo Addy Legacy Project collection intern<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Miracle Theatre Group play:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/oregonmulticulturalarchives\/files\/2013\/10\/corrido-calavera.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12856\" title=\"corrido-calavera\" src=\"http:\/\/wpmu.library.oregonstate.edu\/oregon-multicultural-archives\/files\/2013\/10\/corrido-calavera.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"257\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">This past weekend was the world premiere of the play <em>Corrido Calavera<\/em>, an original and bilingual celebration of the Day of the Dead, conceived and directed by Lakin Valdez. The play featured a young couple that had recently passed away and the spirits that were assisting them transition into the afterlife.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.milagro.org\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Miracle Theatre Group website<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Miracle Theatre Group collection updates:<\/p>\n<p>It is now week 15 of the processing project and I\u2019m happy to say that the initial filtering is now done,\u00a0at least for the administrative and outreach files. 46 boxes and 23 binders have been broken down and filed into filter folders (think of it as a pre-stage to archive folders) that will be worked into the schematic based on findings during the filtering process.
