Anxiety related to immigration enforcement and the threat of family separation shapes children\u2019s experiences, learning, and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Mexican American teacher raised in the U.S., I\u2019ve seen how fear quietly seeps into daily life. In schools, it shows up as anxiety, trouble concentrating, or sudden behavioral changes. These are not signs of defiance, they are signs of stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For Educators: Make Classrooms Safe!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Educators are often the first to notice if a child is struggling. Schools can become anchors of stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simple ways to help can be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Greet students warmly and consistently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep predictable routines and schedules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer reassurance and space to share feelings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect students and their families with counseling resources or community support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind families that they are safe and welcome in the school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create policies that help parents feel safe and welcome in the school.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For Parents: Support at Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents may feel afraid or overwhelmed. Changes in routine may lead to emotional shutdown, frustration, or behavioral challenges.
