Job Application Experiences

  1. Describe your experiences from the perspective of an applicant for the last job for which you applied.
My experiences in the application and hiring process is vastly different than the majority of other people. I have never struggled with applications, nor interviews. While I may not be the most self-confident person, I know what I’m worth and I know what I want to do. If the company doesn’t fit that mold, then I’m not interested. I have highly developed my skills in the areas I plan to work in, making me a highly desired “talented” candidate. I’ve had more companies reach out to me, than I to them. This isn’t to say I’m better than anyone else at my profession, but I strive to better myself everyday and seek constant personal and professional improvement. This is the kind of attitude and motivation that a lot of companies value in great leaders. I will use this as leverage to help me attain the job I want.
  2. Explain how your experiences during the job application process shaped your impression of the job you were applying for and your desire to work there (or in some cases to not work there).
I have partaken in many group interviews. These aren’t multiple people from one company, but rather many companies collectively asking questions and “fighting” over the candidates that come in. They all agree to screen the same people, at the same time, in turn for a draft style order of selection is determined for which company chooses the candidate they want most. That way they can reduce the number of overall application between all the companies and be able to hire the cream of the crop (applicants don’t choose the company). Therefore, my impressions were always based on how well the company representative was able to communicate, carried themselves, and the kind of questions they probed. The companies that caught my attention were ones based on these criteria I mentioned above. While I wasn’t able to choose the company I worked for. I would adjust my responses and questions to best reflect what the company I was interested in, was looking for. If I was selected for a job position with a company I didn’t like, I could always turn it down and apply for that company I wanted directly.
