Recruitment Ad

Having a personal “brand” or overall image that someone conveys to potential employees is an interesting yet complex idea that requires careful self-evaluation and a good sense of self. After having personally been through several different interview types and scenarios throughout my life, I have indeed noticed in the background a “brand” that seems to appear and come forth during these types of situations. Due to my outgoing nature, I immediately come across as confident and open. I have learned quickly, however, that confidence can be easily mistaken for cockiness and arrogance which is something that has lent to harsh reviews on myself. I know that I listen and engage with others like its second-nature; I am very socially apt and aware of the social dynamics at play when in an interview (or any social) setting which lends to others feeling like I can truly receive, understand, and carefully responding in a way that exudes confidence and boldness. While it may or may not be considered a “weakness” I have been told many times in my life that my expressions and my face give my thoughts away; aka, I am very transparent and easy to read. For many employers, this is actually good as it can help lend to empathy, true character understanding, and a knowledge of what is the truth and what isn’t. For, I have found that sometimes I act as if I know a little too much about the position which has led to me being embarrassed and feeling vulnerable which people see right through.

In terms of how this could be potentially advertised and displayed in an effective way to future employees. In keeping with the lecture advice that an affective ad should be avoiding stating things that are “too good to be true”, it would be fair to use verbiage that simply yet bluntly expresses the accuracy of my nature and abilities. Personally, I am fairly vanilla in my tastes and my design preferences; which would help explain why I like companies like Apple, for example, as they follow a very minimalistic and clean approach to all of their marketing and product efforts. For myself, I would like to see a graphic that has three/four “sections” that are each solid background colors with the main adjective in each of the sections with a period. For example; “Confident. Apt. Teachable.” To me, this allows simplicity and clarity for the audience or employees to narrow down my personality into about 3-4 strong adjectives that can be explained further in subsequent short paragraphs. While coming up with an entire fiction storyline or commercial ad that highlights myself seems like too much, I think a graphic that is easily readable and digestible is a good start to allowing others to read between the lines of how each of those traits I have work hand in hand. This has really got me thinking and I will for a sure adventure more into the idea of how I present myself to others and how (if I was famous for example) I would want others to perceive me as.
