So The Project Begins

This week we began with 3 team members in the group, but unfortunately midway through the week our 3rd member informed us that he will no longer be continuing with the course due to personal reasons. Regardless, this has not dampened the mood for the 2 of us that remain. Our goal is still to build out this app and the functionalities as much as humanly possible in the ~80 hours of work.

We began the week working on the project plan. My initial concerns was finding the APIs/libraries that would help us scan barcodes and how to translate those scans to items in the app. Luckily, I found a library on pub.dev that implemented the barcode scanning. Then, 1 quick Google showed that there is a Barcode Lookup API which gives access to a massive database of products and their barcodes and product numbers. With this information, barcode scanning a product seemed to be much more attainable for our project.

The other hurdle was to create the weekly task list for each of us. This was a good exercise to really jot down our weekly tasks and provide our own deadlines for milestones in the project.

Mihai was tasked with creating the Github repository and the Google Firebase. I created the Dart project files and began coding up the home screen, including 3 navigation tabs at the bottom which are able to switch to other pages within the app.

So far a good start to the project and good vibes. The next update will include more technical aspects and screen captures of some newly added app functionalities!
