Reflecting On Training Experiences
This week, I was tasked to reflect on previous training courses or educational classes that I have felt were beneficial or not beneficial to me. Typically, all the jobs that I worked on had taught me everything I needed to do while I was on the job. However, there is one instance in which I did have some sort of formal training before starting the job. This job required us to watch videos and complete quizes to indicate that we had completed the training. These videos ranged from employee expectations, work safety training, and diversity in the workplace. After completion, we are given an orientation date. I would consider this my most beneficial experience of training because it was the moment I was able to familiarize myself with the kind of work I was getting myself into. Not only that, I was able to start building relationships with fellow employees who were starting the same time as me. My least beneficial experience came from one of my college courses here at OSU. I am not gonna go into details on which course it was, I will say that it was by far the worst class I have taken in my college career. While the Professor had their own reasons for being a subpar instructor, I would say that the course was not beneficial because the skill level of the students were not considered. There was also very little organization through out the course which only made it more difficult for the less experienced student.
