During the hiring process, I will not disclose the name of the company, but I will reveal my job position and experience.
I applied for the position of gate operator at this company. It was my first real job actually working and getting paid hourly. I was working as a temp so I was not hired on but some of my coworkers were hired on. The paperwork process was really simple, I just needed to give them my ID and another form of identification. Next, was the interview that was scheduled the next day. I assumed that I needed a resume and be prepared to answer some questions but that was not the case. During the interview, they educated my on what my job will be and the safety precautions about it. The manager at the time was really easy going and said my job was easy. Afterwards, I signed some papers and that same day I got interviewed I started working on the clock.
My job as a gate operator is to basically check trailers that are entering and exiting the warehouse. The paperwork, I was later taught to do but only the hired ones were able to work the computers and input the information of the containers in the system.
Honestly, the job was really easy but it was long hours. Some coworkers did more work than others even though we were getting paid the same. Not only that in the 2 months I was working as a gate operator, many employees were hired and then fired not too long after. The managers or higher position workers sometimes seemed like they did not know how to do their job and so they let mistakes slide quite often.
