Cloning using Bacterial Vector

As the name describe it, this technique uses bacteria as a vector for cloning purposes. Using this method, new genes are inserted into bacterial plasmid. As bacteria can perform asexual and sexual reproduction – conjugation, more clones of the bacteria can be created and these clones contain the new genes making them a gene making factory. One example of a product of this technique is insulin production. E. coli are introduced to insulin genes and start reproducing and synthesizing the protein insulin.
