Week 1 – Job Application Experience

Nicholas Emmert 4/1/22

The last job I applied for was an internship with a company called Schneider Electric. The position I was applying for was HR intern. This for me was a very weird experience because I had no intentions of going into HR, but because of covid I did not have a whole lot of options as far as internships. I was not qualified for the job but my manager saw traits that would fit well with the position. I was not close minded about the job, more genuinely curious about it. It was an overall great experience because I wasn’t expecting anything in return and the process of submitting my application was super easy.

For this interview I didn’t have to apply for it as they found me and asked me if I wanted to interview. I was given a little information about the position so I wasn’t fully sure what to expect. The main reason I took the position was due to the fact that I needed an internship to graduate. In the beginning I was told it would be a very interactive position as I would be interacting with employees on a daily basis. This was a positive because I am a people person and I enjoy connecting with different people. I Knew it would be a little weird because it was during covid and I would be a new face around the office, but this did not stop my desire to work here.

  1. Hi Nicholas. Sounds like your experience at Schneider Electric was positive. I enjoyed reading your comment about having an open mind on taking a job in a function that you had not considered. It feels like your open minded approach was a key to your success and led to the overall experience being a good one.
