You served diligently!\u00a0 Now display your sticker proudly!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To maintain your certification, the following are the minimum criteria for Veteran MGs in 2018<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>20 hours of volunteer service<\/strong> in Program approved activities<\/li>\n<li><strong>10 hours of continuing education\/recertification hours<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Submit signed\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgmetro\/files\/2018\/02\/2017_2018-Conditions-of-Volunteer-Service.pdf\">Conditions of Volunteer Service agreement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Start logging your hours on either a 2018 <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgmetro\/files\/2018\/02\/2018-Volunteer-Log-Sheet.pdf\">PDF<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgmetro\/files\/2018\/02\/2018excellogsheet.xls\">Excel<\/a> Volunteer Log Sheet.\u00a0 Once that log sheet is brimming with your annual requirements, please submit your log to the Metro MG Program office, no later than September 30, 2018.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Expand Your Gardening Know-How &#8211; Earn your 2018 Garden-Ed Hours<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are many, varied options for Continuing Garden Education\/Recertification in 2018.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2018 Master Gardener Training<\/strong> &#8211; Attend any of the MG training classes offered in February and March at the 3 Metro-area training locations.\u00a0 Morning sessions and afternoon sessions each count for 3 hours of continuing education.\u00a0 Attending the training classes is a great way to brush up on the basics.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgmetro\/files\/2018\/02\/2018-Metro-area-Master-Gardener-Training-Schedule-1.pdf\">Here is the 2018 training schedule along with location addresses.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Online MG Training Modules &#8211; <\/strong>Take and successfully \u2018Pass\u2019 any of the online MG training modules. All MG training modules are offered\u00a0free to <strong><em><u>current<\/u><\/em><\/strong> Veteran MGs.\u00a0 Look for an upcoming email in late February for registration details.\u00a0 Each module \u2018passed\u2019 counts for 2 hours credit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hands-on education workshops<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0Dig in to one of the hands-on workshops being offered as part of the MG training curriculum.\u00a0 A wide range of workshops will be offered\u2026plant propagation, improving garden soil, fruit tree pruning, vegetable gardening, insect ID, and more! Current, Veteran MGs are allowed to take <strong><u>one<\/u><\/strong> of these workshops.\u00a0 If space allows, a Veteran can get special permission to take an additional workshop.\u00a0 Veteran MGs will be notified of workshop offerings and registration details via email in March.\u00a0 Each workshop counts as 5 hours continuing education\/recertification hours<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch the OSU Extension Service Advanced training webinars<br \/>\n<\/strong>A wonderful new addition for MG continuing education.\u00a0 The webinars keep MGs up on the latest horticultural science developments.\u00a0 For the upcoming 2018 webinars you must register in advance to watch them \u2018live\u2019.\u00a0 Click on the following links to register for upcoming webinars or to access recordings of past webinars. \u00a0Each viewed webinar counts as 1 hour credit<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ediblegardens\/2018\/01\/02\/spring-2018-webinars-master-gardeners\/\">2018 Advanced Training Webinars<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ediblegardens\/files\/2017\/06\/2017MGAdvancedTrainingWebinarSchedule.pdf\">2017 Advanced Training Webinars<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Metro-area Chapter Presentations.<\/strong>\u00a0 The Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Co. Chapters all offer several speakers and classes throughout the year that count as credit.\u00a0 Find designated speakers and classes announced in the three Chapters\u2019 monthly newsletters &#8211; easy to locate in the category tabs above, or on the <a href=\"http:\/\/calendar.oregonstate.edu\/month\/metro-gardening\/\">Metro MG Garden Education Events Calendar<\/a>. Always look for a designation like \u201capproved for MG garden education credit\u201d or \u201cqualifies for continuing education\/recertification hours\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Growing Gardeners Conference<\/strong> Attend classes designated for continuing garden education at the Oregon Master Gardeners Association\u2019s <strong>Gardeners Growing Conference<\/strong> (formally known as \u201cMini-College\u201d).\u00a0 The 2018 conference is scheduled July 12 through the 14<sup>th<\/sup>, at Linfield College in McMinnville. This 3-day conference will offer a wide-ranging slate of garden-focused classes.
