Summer Volunteer Opportunities Abound!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As summer temperatures rise \u2013 so do volunteer opportunities for metro-area Master Gardeners to share proven, successful garden practices with home gardeners.\u00a0 Upcoming Master Gardener Clinic table volunteer events include the: Cracked Pots Art Show @ Edgefield, Backyard Certification Open Garden Event, Mt. Scott Fuel\u2019s Centennial Celebration, the Clackamas County, Washington County and Oregon State Fairs!<\/em><\/p>\n

Other rewarding, interactive, garden education volunteer opportunities are available at the Oregon Zoo\u2019s Education Center and Metro\u2019s Blue Lake Discovery Garden.<\/p>\n

Schedule a shift via CERVIS<\/a> for a great summer volunteer experience.\u00a0 Don\u2019t despair if your favorite market schedule appears full.\u00a0 Check back often, as schedules change and openings arise throughout the summer \u2013 sign-up on the waiting list for a particular shift.\u00a0 Let a clinic coordinator know if you are willing to serve as a substitute for last minute cancellations at your favorite market.<\/p>\n

State and County Fair FUN!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you want a big dose of summer fun, sign-up for an MG Clinic table at one of the county fairs or the Oregon State Fair.\u00a0 Give sage (OSU proven), garden advice to fair visitors and take a bit of time, before and after your shift, to grab some shaved ice and check out the fair competitions whether it is honey products, the biggest homegrown fruits and veggies, or the best home brew or chocolate layer cake!\u00a0 Sign-up on CERVIS<\/a> to grab a shift now!\u00a0 Fair admission passes provided to all fair volunteers.<\/u><\/p>\n

Clackamas County Fair<\/strong>, August 13 \u2013 17<\/strong> (Tuesday \u2013 Saturday). Master Gardeners are in a prime location at the Clackamas County Fair with our clinic table right by the entertainment stage, lovely display garden and plant sale. 10-Minute University at the Clackamas County Fair!
\n<\/strong>Informative 10-Minute University presentations will take place daily at the Clackamas County Fair at 11:00am in the Floral Department, near our Master Gardener booth.\u00a0 Come on down, sit a spell, and be inspired!<\/p>\n

11:00 am – Wednesday, August 13: <\/strong>Designing a Fall Container.<\/p>\n

11:00 am – Thursday, August 14:<\/strong> Seed Saving.<\/p>\n

11:00 am – Friday,<\/strong> August 15:<\/strong> Bugs, the Good the Bad, and the Annoying.<\/p>\n

Washington County Fair<\/strong>, July 26 \u2013 27<\/strong> (Friday and Saturday).\u00a0Master Gardeners will host a Master Gardener Clinic table under the OSU Extension tent at the Washington Co. Fair.\u00a0 Answer home gardening questions and learn about all the other great OSU Extension Service programs that take place in Washington County. \u00a0Sign up on CERVIS<\/a><\/p>\n

Oregon State Fair, August 30 – 31<\/strong>. For the ultimate fair experience, take a quick jaunt to Salem for the Oregon State Fair.\u00a0 Master Gardeners from around the state host the OSU Extension Master Gardener Clinic.\u00a0 Our Metro MG program hosts the MG table on Friday, August 30th<\/sup> and Saturday, August 31st<\/sup>.\u00a0 Don\u2019t miss this festive state celebration!
