{"id":173,"date":"2018-03-05T21:19:35","date_gmt":"2018-03-05T21:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgcoordinators\/?p=173"},"modified":"2018-03-05T21:19:35","modified_gmt":"2018-03-05T21:19:35","slug":"guidance-master-gardener-plant-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/mgcoordinators\/2018\/03\/05\/guidance-master-gardener-plant-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Guidance for Master Gardener Plant Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we head into Master Gardener plant sale season, it is a good time to remind Master Gardener Associations of the requirements to host a Master Gardener Plant Sale.<\/p>\n<p>1) Master Gardener Associations need to fill out and file the <span style=\"color: #000080\"><a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ODA\/shared\/Documents\/Publications\/NurseryChristmasTree\/TempNurseryLicense.pdf\">temporary nursery license<\/a> <\/span>with the ODA. This will provide the ODA an opportunity to contact plant sale organizers (if needed), for sales in areas of concern.<\/p>\n<p>2) Master Gardener plant sales can not include sale or distribution of (click on the link for more details):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/oda\/programs\/weeds\/oregonnoxiousweeds\/pages\/aboutoregonweeds.aspx\">Invasive Plants or Noxious Weeds<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ODA\/PROGRAMS\/NURSERYCHRISTMASTREE\/Pages\/Quarantines.aspx]http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ODA\/PROGRAMS\/NURSERYCHRISTMASTREE\/Pages\/Quarantines.aspx\">Plants that fall under quarantine or control in their area<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3) Best practices dictate that Master Gardeners <strong>DO NOT MOVE SOIL<\/strong>. If plant sale plants are coming from personal gardens, remove the soil, wash the roots, and repot in commercial potting mix. We\u00a0recognize this may be inconvenient but there are several exotic horticulture pests (<span style=\"color: #000080\"><a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalpress.com\/Oregon\/20160809\/crazy-snake-worm-unearthed-in-oregon\">snake worm<\/a><span style=\"color: #333333\">, <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ODA\/shared\/Documents\/Publications\/NurseryChristmasTree\/PlantProgramsAnnualReport.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">European chafer ~ see page 18<\/span>)<\/a> that currently have limited distribution in Oregon, and that can be moved through soil.<\/p>\n<p>The Master Gardener teaches sustainable gardening.
