Welcome to my first ever blog post as well as blog site. I hope everything looks good so far, and if it doesn’t, I probably already know and most likely planned to fix it later, so don’t write those comments just yet.

Anyway, my topic of choice for my first blog post will be about my project choice, and the reasons for picking it. If I have not mentioned it yet, my topic of choice for my first project is “Dating app for animal adaption”. It is a web application where one can be adopt animals. Specifically, one would fill out their dating profile of what type of pet they would like, as well as what qualities they would like to see in their pet. Our program, using that data would match them with corresponding pets that have those qualities and are available to be adapted.

Before I tell you why I eventually landed on this choice, let me say if I had more time I would have chosen a different project. I have been keeping my eye on the one where we combine, computer vision with unity to create a puzzle game from a doodle. This can never be, because since this is utilizing new technology, which means I would have to start everything from scratch, research and what not. This requires time I don’t have. The next best thing considering my circumstances is to pick a project that doesn’t really require much time to start and will be quick and easy to implement, so long as everyone works on it.

So why pet adoption, growing up I had 2 dogs which I adored and only taught one trick, to shake hands, and due to extenuating circumstances I had to leave them. Now the story that my parents told me is that, the dogs were given to a neighbor, now do I believe that, of course not, most likely they were just let go to roam the streets (did I mention this was not in America?). Anyway, knowing that I have a “batman like” dark past, I hope to make sure that never happens again, thus my project choice. I hope to build a web app, that people can put their pets up for adoption as well as listing all the traits and quirks of their pets, and using our “advanced” algorithm, I hope to match the pets with good homes.

At least that is the hope.
