{"id":54,"date":"2022-11-09T20:46:44","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:46:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/melsheit\/?p=54"},"modified":"2022-11-09T20:46:44","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:46:44","slug":"saving-the-introductions-for-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/melsheit\/2022\/11\/09\/saving-the-introductions-for-last\/","title":{"rendered":"Saving the introductions for last."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Friday, November 4th a massive wind storm hit Washington state and took my power out for 4 days, so content might be a tad bit sparse this week.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, power has been restored and, after a brief lapse of internet connection,  I am back just in time to discuss another round of Unity shenanigans!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To begin: The mini game and War Room are complete!  Here is a peek at the game within the game:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-imgur wp-block-embed-imgur\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"imgur-embed-pub\" lang=\"en\" data-id=\"qLoHAji\"><a href=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/qLoHAji\">View post on imgur.com<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"\/\/s.imgur.com\/min\/embed.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><figcaption>Gravity, Gravity, Gravity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that in the normal build of the game, the timer will be set to 60 seconds to provide a bit more of a challenge to the player. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Death Room Hub is going nicely, with the player now able to enter each of the mini escape room environments.  Here is a peek at my teammate&#8217;s Famine Room being entered via the hub:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-imgur wp-block-embed-imgur\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"imgur-embed-pub\" lang=\"en\" data-id=\"QAucDpb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/QAucDpb\">View post on imgur.com<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"\/\/s.imgur.com\/min\/embed.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The hub also updates the pillars when players complete a room &#8211; though a final game winning scenario has not been implemented yet.  When a player completes a room, they will loop back to the hallway of the death room &#8211; but I plan to add subtle changes to the environment to keep things interesting with each passing through.  Should be fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, I got to work on an introductory \/ tutorial scene. GET TO DA SHEL-TAH!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a list of things I need to finish up during this week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Finish the tutorial room<\/li><li>Add interesting update changes to the death room with each room completion<\/li><li>Clean up the War Room end game scenario to make it a bit more interesting (it&#8217;s just a door right now)<\/li><li>Figure out an ending to the game when all of the rooms have been completed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Barring any additional extreme weather-based catastrophes, I should be able to get back on track pretty quickly!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until, the next one!  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, November 4th a massive wind storm hit Washington state and took my power out for 4 days, so content might be a tad bit sparse this week.
