{"id":1,"date":"2022-09-22T22:08:44","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T22:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/melsheit\/?p=1"},"modified":"2022-09-23T00:34:41","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T00:34:41","slug":"intro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/melsheit\/2022\/09\/22\/intro\/","title":{"rendered":"Oblogatory Introductions."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em><strong>The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><cite><strong>Stephen King<\/strong> &#8211; <em>The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<p><em>What better introduction than one lifted from a well recognized master of their craft.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the only block that appears to be absent in WordPress, but is universally present at some point for all creative types:<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>Writer&#8217;s Block<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;<em>But, what could be easier than talking about yourself<\/em>?&#8221; you may ask.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>A bullet list of facts, that&#8217;s what!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> Theodor Melsheimer<\/li>\n<li><strong>Age:<\/strong> (guess in the comments)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hobbies:<\/strong> Piano, Pixel Art, Game Development, Guilty Gear AC+R and other 2D fighting games.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Whereabouts:<\/strong> <del>unknown<\/del> Whidbey Island, WA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All jokes aside, I have found myself severely lacking in creative motivation over the last several months.&nbsp; <strong><em>Summer 2022 was supposed to be a veritable Renaissance of creativity and growth due to an obscene amount of available free time.&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now <strong><em>October<\/em> <\/strong>is rolling around and I have only accomplished what I feared most: <em>Ziltch, Zero, Nada, Bupkis<strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s tally up the results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Game Jams Participated in : 0<\/p>\n<p>Times I opened Unity: 0<\/p>\n<p>Hours spent playing DNF Duel and Personal 4 Arena Ultimax:&nbsp;<strong>Approx. 160<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sick Venom Combos Landed:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1920px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-1-1\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5977\/files\/2022\/09\/dbcbby.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5977\/files\/2022\/09\/dbcbby.mp4\">https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5977\/files\/2022\/09\/dbcbby.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>My favorite excuses: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Maybe I just needed some mental cool off time.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>I was quite busy with school this year and needed a break.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Something, something, living isolated on an island due to unfortunate life circumstances has drained me creatively.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><i>Well, the summer is mostly shot already anyways, guess I&#8217;ll just work out and play more Guilty Gear.<\/i><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Well, now the time for excuses is over and I look forward to the capstone project lighting a fire under my derri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back the last few months I feel guilty that I have not kept my myself sharp in regards to coding and development.&nbsp; However, I have also come to discover something that takes the edge off my feelings of regret:<\/p>\n<p><strong>When I&#8217;m rusty I will struggle, and that is when I learn the most effectively.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>See you all in the next, much more productive, post!<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.
