As a business owner looking to hire a new employee to fill an essential opening in my company, it would be difficult to choose between Avery and Jamie. Knowing that this employee will be filling an essential position, I would say that it would be the smarter decision to choose consistency over potential. With that being said, Jamie would be the better choice for this position because she is consistent which is an important quality to look for in employees as a business owner.
There are some jobs where high potential can outweigh poor consistency which would be more suitable for someone like Avery. These types of jobs would be ones where you are either self-employed or only working on one specific project at a time. An example of jobs like this could be something such as an artist (music, painting, etc…) or an actor/entertainer. These jobs would be good for a person like Avery because they would allow them to have outbursts of high potential for shorter time spans.
There are also some jobs where high consistency can outweigh low potential which would be more suitable for someone like Avery. These types of jobs would be ones that require a high level of attention to detail or daily results. An example of jobs like this could be something such as an accountant or analyst. These jobs would be good for a person like Jamie because they would allow them to create consistent results that don’t require high levels of creativity.

Hi Evan. I agree that both Avery and Jaime have their respective pros and cons as an employee to hire. So, for me it might come down to the best individual fit for the job type. Similar to yourself, I would lean towards hiring Jaime more often than hiring Avery as I feel consistency is a valuable employee trait, particularly when working in an environment where collaboration and teamwork is key to success.
I liked your ideas on the job types that would play to Avery’s strengths.
Hi, Evan I liked how descriptive your post was and the insight that you provided. I actually chose Avery so it was even more interesting to see where you were coming from with your decision. Like you I struggled with the choice when comparing the two. Each one of them has something that the other doesn’t. I think the reasoning for your choice was good. You value consistent employees over those who aren’t, I respect that.
