Assignment #2

CRISPR was originally a defense mechanism used by bacteria and archaea but can now be used by scientists to essentially snip out sections of DNA. This allows us to either remove unwanted gene sequences or open spaces up to insert our own manufactured sequences to edit genes to bring about a desired change. This can allow us to treat genetic disorders, enhance already present genetic traits, or create resistance to disease on a genetic level.
