My group has been coding and planning our project non-stop for the last few weeks, it is scary that we are almost halfway through the quarter. We finally have an understanding of how everyone works and have a nice pace to complete this project. Even with a plan in mind we have already had to make some changes to our development plans because we thought it would be better to get one working page rather than working on multiple pages at the same time. Jokingly, this is a prime example of Agile by allowing us as a group to switch development features as things change.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been focusing on the front-end development for my group’s project. I really took the initiative to work on this because I know my front-end development skills were a bit lacking, so it gave-me the much needed practice. Needless to say it’s been a blast seeing my work come alive line by line, which you don’t really get to see with back-end development. The group agreed to use Chakra UI framework to help with the design aspect with our React code. It has definitely eased some of my frustrations with front-end development, but overall I’m pretty happy with the decision as I’ve been making components for the various pages on the application. It’s been a while since I’ve developed this much code, but it has been very rewarding at the very least.
Unfortunately, I got sick for a couple of days in the last few weeks probably due to a lot of work from my day job and course work compounding. This is a reminder that sometimes I need to take a little break every so often to make sure that I don’t get burned out. I will actually be taking some time off from my day job to relax and recover from the marathon of activities I’ve been taking on.
