In fact, in my Grade 1 yearbook, I wrote that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. As the years passed, it became harder to make time for my creative side due to other priorities like studying and working.

When the pandemic hit in March 2020, it suddenly dawned on me that I didn’t really have any hobbies besides traveling and going to the gym. Because of COVID-19 and the lockdown, I thought it would be a good idea to have a hobby that can be done at home. I also had more time as my job at the time became remote. It was a great time to go back to my creative roots and start drawing again!

I first started creating watercolor textures. To be honest, I never knew creating textures was a thing until I saw a tutorial on YouTube. It was really fun to try something new and I created some cool and interesting textures. The one on the left is my attempt at a rainbow texture.

I’m now into digital art. I love how forgiving it is. It’s fairly easy to change different elements of your art with a click of a button. Additionally, there is so much to explore in the digital art world – different textures, pen styles, and colors! Although I’m still learning, one thing I’m proud of is that I have turned some of my digital art pieces into enamel pins. It’s an out of this world feeling to have your digital art turn into a physical product that you can hold in your hands!

I’m so glad that I’m able to work on art again and bring my art to life. I really hope I can keep this up and keep improving. 🙂 Thanks for tuning into this week’s blog!

As a child, I enjoyed arts & crafts and drawing.
