Laboratory of Nanostructured Materials at Oregon State University

Citlali Nieves Lira

Pronouns: she/her

Major: Advanced and environmental chemistry

Role: Undergraduate Research Assistant.

Awards: ACS scholar, Ford scholar, LSAMP, STEM leaders

Hobbies: I like going to the beach, lifting fish tanks and enjoy making small crafts like book nooks or any kind of craft that requires building.

Research Description: You can think of me as a sculptor. I work on trying to synthesize different shapes and sizes of silver nanoparticles, as well as trying to create homogeneity through chemical and light induced synthesis. This would help the nano world understand how physical properties influence the chemical properties of nanoparticles to better utilize and apply these for antibacterial use, drug delivery or as contrast agents x-ray imaging agents.
