The week of 09/26/2022

Hello to all those reading!

My name is Ethan, and this is just a small blog about my journey through the last two Fall courses in my OSU CS career!

As of this post, I am currently in my first and second week of classes where I have just looked over a list of suggested projects for my Capstone class. I definitely feel a bit intimidated at the sight of some of these projects specifically in regards to some of the machine learning, AI projects and some HTML games. I’ve only dabbled a bit in topics involved with machine learning and AI, and I definitely have feelings that I wouldn’t be able to contribute much if involved in a project like that.

Before going into this course, I had originally planned to develop a web application to align some of my projects with my career goals but I didn’t see many cool ideas on the project board. After browsing for about an hour or so, I narrowed my searches down to something I was a bit more familiar with and enjoyed which involved mobile development. I had previously taken a class in mobile development just this last quarter and overall enjoyed it. The few projects that I found interesting consisted of:

  • The Bike Kollective
  • Crowd-sourced Shopping App
  • Text-based adventure game

The last option was not a mobile app but I found the idea of creating a game like that to be interesting and not as challenging as some of the other posted games. I liked the novelty of the game and was fond of some similar games I’ve played in the past.

Any of these three sounded quite interesting and fun for me. I still had concerns as I haven’t found any partners for my team. I haven’t had the greatest luck with partners in the past where some team members definitely had different levels of enthusiasm for the project we were on. I just hope that my two partners are responsible, patient and eager to learn new things for the project. I hope I am able to rise up to this challenge and try to help my team flourish as much as possible..
