The Final Chapter: My Journey Through Oregon State University
Introduction
Hey everyone! Welcome to my very first blog post. Today is a monumental day for me—I just attended my last class at Oregon State University. It’s been a journey of twists and turns, and I thought there’s no better time than now to share it with you all.
Finding My Way: The Early Years at ARC
My quest for knowledge began a bit later than most. At the age of 29, I enrolled in computer science classes at a local community college, American River College (ARC). Though my intentions were clear, the path was anything but. The passion was there, but the questions remained: Was I too late? Could I manage all the other aspects of my life while diving deep into a new field?
Navigating Life Events: Marriage, Divorce, and a New Beginning
Life, as it tends to do, threw its curveballs. During this period, I got married, and later, went through a divorce. It was in 2014, after my divorce, that I found what I had been looking for—a second bachelor’s program that I could complete online. This was a life-changer for me. The program was at Oregon State University, and it offered the flexibility and curriculum I needed to move forward.
The OSU Chapter
After enrolling in OSU’s online program, I was committed to giving it my all. Despite the trials and tribulations of my past, I found a new sense of purpose. The flexibility of the online format allowed me to balance my responsibilities and even discover new passions. Fast forward to today, I’m 44 and have just attended my last class.
Looking Ahead
As I prepare to complete my final project, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and excitement for the future. It’s never too late to take a new path, and my journey is a testament to that. I’m looking forward to creating an excellent project, deepening my expertise, and, most importantly, making new friends who share my love for learning.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here’s to the next chapter!
Until next time,
J.J.
