Looking back at my life, I can’t really pinpoint the exact moment I ever used a computer. Maybe it is this or maybe it is not, but I’m going to say the first time I ever used a computer was when I was in the second grade. My teacher made us do this short report on our favorite dinosaur using the class windows 95 computers while she guided us on how to use the computer and helping us type and print. I remember choosing to write a report on the allosaurus and ended up typing like 4 short paragraphs and having to print out the report and turn it in. I remember feeling kind of proud of myself for finishing the assignment.
Eventually my family got a home computer when I was in the fourth grade. Like most kids, the only reason to use a computer is to play games. I remember playing the game Neopets in elementary school. Neopets was this simple web browser game that you chose a pet and played simple flash games to collect some kind of currency to buy things for your pet. I remember there was PvP with other players using our pets. After Neopets, I played this game called Runescape which was another browser based game that was like pretty much the first real MMORPG game out there. That was fun for a while but I wasn’t very good at the game. I think I was just trying to PvP players in the wild and just kept on ending up dying and losing my equipment. Later on, my friend introduced me to this game called Maplestory. This MMORPG game was a game changer. This was my first MMORPG game that was not browser based. It was actually played by having to run a computer application. This game was a 2D game in which you choose a class to play as and kill monsters and do quests to gain experience. Yeah, this kind of sounds like every other MMORPG out there but at the time this was probably the only one that had good graphics and gameplay.
Looking back at these moments in my life, these were fun times and probably lead me to like computers and be comfortable using a computer since they led to these happy feelings.
