My name is Samantha but I go by Sammie. Here\u2019s a bit about my journey from healthcare to CS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I graduated in 2021 with a B.A. in Biology, fully set on going to medical school. However, reflecting on my personal life as well as professional interests during my gap year made me realize that being a doctor was not the career I wanted to pursue. A large contributor to this decision was my work in a computational research lab. I enjoyed the problem solving aspect, writing simple code in MATLAB, and collaborating with my PI. The combination of these led me to the CS post-bacc program at OSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am now in my final quarter with just my capstone and two electives left to complete. I\u2019ve enjoyed learning about full stack development the most. I especially like working on the backend and managing a database. I\u2019m hoping to further this by creating one of the cross platform apps for my capstone project. I believe that would be a great opportunity for me to learn to develop mobile applications and could be a valuable addition to my resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, I\u2019d like to work as a software engineer, spending my free time going on hikes with and training my dog!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone!
