Denae Christensen recently got in touch to share what she has been up to since she graduated with her PharmD degree in 2012.
After graduation, Denae did some camping and sight-seeing around the western United States before settling down in California. She received her license in the fall, and is now employed as a community pharmacist at a large chain pharmacy. She enjoys the new experiences and opportunities she has had being involved in public health and education, and says the biggest challenge has been learning how to interact with the wide variety of people she encounters on a daily basis.
“I have been gaining experience and growing every day,” she says. “I always find it interesting to see the variety of expectations different people have; I’ve had to learn to adapt to each person’s needs.”
In her free time, Denae likes to go hiking in the redwoods and go to the beach. She still misses Oregon and the OSU campus, but is glad to be closer to her parents and grandmother. Her goals for the future include finding ways to become more active in public health programs within the community, and advocating pharmacy education on a local level.
