On Friday, April 5th Cory Huot, RPh, MBA (Class of 1997) gave a presentation to P1 and P2 students as part of the College’s PharmD Enrichment and Professional Program (PEPP) seminar series. The presentation was entitled “Healthcare Reform (ACOs/CCOs): What It All Means for the Pharmacy Profession.”
Huot touched on a number of healthcare topics relevant to pharmacists and pharmacy students, including the shift in the nation’s healthcare system from a provider-centric HMO model to an ACO/CCO system focused on patient care. He also explained why it is important for pharmacists, as uniquely qualified drug experts, to establish their role in this quickly evolving system, and that strong leadership among both professionals and students will be critical as we take the next steps in healthcare reform.
Cory Huot is the Director of Pharmacy at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center in Portland.
