Bob Coulter answers students' questions about independent pharmacy ownership

The College’s PharmD Professional Enrichment and Professional Program (PEPP) presented OSU alum Bob Coulter (Class of 1973) on Friday, April 12. Bob Coulter and his wife Sue (Class of 1977) are the owners of Red Cross Drug stores.

Coulter spoke to students about his personal experiences as an independent pharmacist and entrepreneur, and about the opportunities available to students with goals of pharmacy ownership. He emphasized the importance of community pharmacy as a unique context in which pharmacists can build meaningful relationships with their patients, and “be part of a team and contribute to something greater than yourself.”

OSU provides a number of opportunities for students interested in both business and pharmacy, including the new PharmD/MBA dual degree. Red Cross Drug also offers rotations for P3 and P4 pharmacy students.

Bob Coulter is a preceptor and a 2012 Icon of Pharmacy, as well as a winner of the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia award.
