Post #2 – Getting Used To the Quarter

The past few weeks have been very taxing for me where I’ve had to juggle job hunting and interviews; various illnesses; my part-time internship; and my class work. But I’ve been very lucky that my Capstone teammates have been very patient and understanding about my circumstances.

Overall, I feel like I’m still getting used to the quarter and trying to balance everything. I was excited about getting our top choice for our Capstone project (Job Tracker) but realized that my coding skills are quite rusty and that I’ll need to (re-)learn a lot of fundamentals for our project. We’ll also be using Remix and Tailwind to help with our project’s front-end, so I’m looking forward to doing a deeper dive into both frameworks/technologies since they both seem to help make the process a lot easier. It’s still dawning on me that this is my final quarter at OSU and we’re already a few weeks into the quarter.

My goals for the rest of the month is to…

  • Finish up my interviews and job hunting
  • Learn Remix, Tailwind
  • Be better organized with schoolwork

I’m hoping that once I finish my job search and secure a full-time SWE position, I’ll feel a tremendous weight off my shoulders. I’ve been looking forward to finally having a full-time job after I graduate but underestimated the emotional and mental toil it’s had on me. Especially with the various roadblocks that I didn’t anticipate, such as the hiring freezes for my target companies. But in the end, things always seem to work out or at least I hope it will.
