What to Know About Labor Unions

Labor unions are something that many workers are a part of in all different trades and comes with both positive functions while also bringing negative functions. Some of the good things that labor unions promote are workers’ rights and represent the working class so that they do not get rolled over by big corporations and the higher ups. Labor unions represent workers that choose to join and help to find them employment. This goes both ways as if companies are looking for workers, they can find some from labor unions. Labor unions also employees in legal cases with their employers so they cannot get fired without a good reason leaving employees feeling more secured.

On the other hand, labor unions can bring some bad things, for example for employers’ workers under labor unions are sometimes impossible to fire even when they continue to mess up their job in some way such as being late or not completing work on time. Labor unions also doesn’t help to promote individualism and makes it harder to climb the ranks in unions. Something’s that employee may consider before joining is the fee that it costs to be a part of such labor unions. Overall, I think that labor unions can be good for some people and not the right decisions for others, this would be mostly a personal choice. To me I would rather not join a labor union and find my own way to the right profession. To me saving the money and knowing that if I do my best and only do work that I am proud of am follow the guidelines of the position then I should not need to be a part of a union.
