Hello world!
I have to say, I really enjoy this as the common trope in computer science, especially now that we have the AI landscape as it appears before us. I feel like every time I’ve come across “Hello world” it gave me the sense that I was embarking on something completely new, and that’s been the enjoyment of the pursuit of this degree. I wish I could say that I have loved it at all times, but the challenge I know will pail in comparison to the pride of this degree.
This month (September 2023) marks the first position I have taken outside of the hospitality industry in nearly 20 years. I think everyone was questioning their life choices during the pandemic, but it made clear that those of us relying on direct customer interactions as a profession were at risk of not only COVID, but the ever changing world. That said, I do not believe that the hospitality industry is going by the wayside, but I do feel that the industry offers so many unique soft skills that should translate and for some reason are overlooked.
Additionally, my wife and I are expecting our first kid in a few months! I’m beyond excited and really looking forward to creating our little family. Life is really changing this year.
Finally, I am excited to begin this capstone project and to close the last year together at OSU. I look forward to working with all of you and hope we achieve the success we set out to accomplish without too many hurdles. Cheers!
