My team is currently making headway into a multiple term project about predicting elections through AI/ML. The title of the project didn’t really reveal that this project was mostly going to be data-science focused, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I would be learning how to use AI/ML and working with data.
I moved to Corvallis to switch to the data science focus. The extent of what I have done so far is basically just using Kaggle and basic Pythons stuff, but still haven’t done any sort of research or exploration outside of basic project. I think that this will be the first time that I really explore and forge a new path.
On top of this, I think that having the guidance of someone with many years of political science background as well as access to data scientists and programmers will help give me the direction needed to learn a lot about this topic. In the coming weeks and months, i really want to dig in on working with data.
Working with data is so important because often times, the best thing we can do is plug our dataset into a well-established model. We got advice that the most important thing is making sure that your data is in pristine shape so that the model can give you the best result possible.
I will continue updating this blog with what I learn!
