Week 10: Labor Unions option

I know somebody who is a part of a union and I mainly hear the negatives about it. They talk about how somebody could be unethical in their job or make a decision that could cause them to be fired, but since they are apart of the union that they get away with it. I would not want to be apart of a system that does not make the right calls when it comes to employee behavior especially. I would feel better joining a union if I could trust that my superiors would be able to fire somebody if they do something wrong. The person I know also feels a sense of security being apart of it but its not from encouraging managers and policies, its that if they were to ever do something wrong, then they would still have their job. Unions control what managers can do and tend to pay more and have better schedules. It is interesting that the union I know about is more intense than the standard definition of unions when it is supposed to help a company but it could really harm the company if employees think they can get away with the benefits of the union and the leniency. I have never heard a good thing about being apart of a union and it makes me wonder what companies and organizations can do to make the employees’ experience better where they feel more valued and are given more ethical oppurtunities.
