Week 4: Brands, Ads, & Situations Wanted

The JWB Brand is energetic, enthusiastic, emotionally intelligent, and an extroverted. I put a lot of effort into the first impression to convey both warmth and determination because excellence and connection are very important to me. My strengths lie in my interpersonal skills, my ability to engage and communicate, integrity, leadership, and an innate sense of organization and efficiency.

I am both an Achiever and a Relator with a strong sense of pragmatic positivity. I strive to find the significance in the action and in the individual. I believe that for humans, being seen and feeling that we belong are two things that matter greatly which is why I put so much effort into relationship building and strength finding. As weaknesses, I would say it is the combination summed up in my DiSC assessment: equal parts driven and influence aka we want to get things done efficiently, but also to be liked. It’s an asset because it makes me a collaborative leader. It’s a challenge because it means my meetings tend to run long; nobody likes that, not even me.

If I were to present myself via a situation wanted Ad, it would most likely be a video that starts with a butterfly. I embrace and thrive with change. It’s not easy nor simple, but it is powerful and usually I can find a silver lining. The butterfly would flit from scene to scene from my military background, leading a team, giving a speech at a Women’s Veteran Conference, leading a volunteer group at a non-profit, teaching a yoga class, studying surrounded by MBA books, and land on a headshot image of me with my contact information and the caption, “I will guide the change you seek to transform processes and lead with purpose.”

The challenge will be in getting this viewed, so it may be YouTube or a social media post tagging the targeted companies, or direct messages via LinkedIn. I read an article about someone sending a cake with their resume printed on it to the department where they had applied. This kind of bold move is creative and innovative, but it is not authentic to me. While I admire the action to put oneself out there so publicly, I am passionate about creating connections and my situation wanted ad will have to come through a relationship or an opportunity. It may be volunteering at shared cause, participating in a professional organization’s meeting, or something else that allows me to personally connect with the people or company that I am hoping to work.

I was impressed by your commitment to projecting warmth and determination as a first impression. Those qualities are not as common as some of the others I’ve read about in similar blogs, so it’s refreshing. It would definitely set you apart and make a lasting impact! Your idea of presenting yourself through a video relates to me because I’ve taken a similar approach in the past, although I didn’t incorporate a creative element like your butterfly concept. Your video idea is not just engaging but also memorable (as you mention), this would help ensure that you stand out among others who might only showcase their experiences (as I wrote). Incorporating such creativity demonstrates your innovative thinking, which is highly valued.

Great Post Jodi! The way you described your ad I could visualize it! The idea of the butterfly and how you incorporate beauty in growth is very creative.

    Jodi,
I think you did a great job portraying what you aimed for in your first impression. I appreciate the attention to detail that you included in this post because I was able to visualize the picture that you were painting with your video ad. Thinking about ways to advertise this video reminded me of some of my friends who keep QR codes on their phone for their business card. I think something similar can be done to include a video.

Hello Jodi, what a creative way to promote your brand. I never would have thought to promote it with a butterfly video and welcoming others in their transitions. A nice touch to be sure.
