Human resources are the base of any strong company. They are in charge of acquiring talent, training and developing that talent, making sure that talent is happy and stays at the company, and so much more. Without a strong and helpful HR department, employee turnover would increase, and tenure would shorten. If we analysis some of the fortune 100 “best companies to work for 2020” we see amazing human resource practices.

Hilton, which is number one on the list boosts impressive acceptance rates and business profitability metrics. Inclusion and diversity help bring a united front to costumers and help create a vast culture. These different perspectives make Hilton unique and able to handle a variety of different tasks and situations.

Sports have definitely contributed to my perspective of leadership and managing roles. The best teams I have been on had a proportionate relationship between winning and comradery. When a team cares about one another, it motivates them to push themselves harder for the betterment of the team. This intern provides positive results and only furthers the drive to succeed. I think by promoting teamwork and comradery, I can manage a team that is successful and happy.

I think the most challenging obstacle will be drawing the line between friend and manager. There is a hierarchy in companies for a reason and it provides direction for the team. I think this needs to be clear but in a way that is supportive rather than that of a dictatorship. Once this is established it will not be forgotten so making this move the right way is challenging but important.
