The Metaverse is meant to be an interoperable AR and VR technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea of the Metaverse reminds me of science fiction movies like &#8220;Ready Player One&#8221; and books like &#8220;An Absolutely Remarkable Thing&#8221;.  In both these instances the technology was used as an escape from reality that individuals spend their entire waking lives in. While I don&#8217;t think the technology will be a solid replacement for reality anytime soon, technologies like Neuralink could theoretically tap us into the Metaverse matrix-style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t think of myself as a Luddite, but I think there is something to the worries people have towards this form of technology. I&#8217;m sure the benefits will arguably outweigh the harm. I for one enjoy taking hikes in the real world. The real world is beautiful and dynamic and interesting. But even I am excited and interested in exploring a new, alternative universe that is created by humans.
