Staffing & the Case for Recruitment & Selection

  1. Organizations might decide to allocate more resources toward marketing or product design rather than employee recruitment and selection because they may not know the importance of a great employee. Many businesses believe that their employees are expendable, especially those at minimum wage jobs. They also might be looking at the short-term benefits of a great marketing campaign rather than the long-term benefits of a good employee.
  2. A potential strength of an organization that does not prioritize recruitment and selection is having a greater customer outreach. If they do not spend their money on their HR recruiting, they most likely will spend that money elsewhere whether that be on a product that is more appealing to the customer or an advertisement that brings in customers. These companies may have lower customer acquisition costs but the downside to this is that they might have a lot of employee turnover. Without putting in the proper time and money into recruiting good employees, this can lead to lots of turnover and a lot of money wasted in terms of training ex-employees and training new ones.
