As the reviewer I feel that I have a lot of responsibility to make sure that I not only understand what the author is trying to say but also to understand the sources that they used. It has been a lengthy process and I have not finished yet but so far it has gotten me to focus even more than when writing my own paper. I have to look out for spelling and grammatical errors on top of trying to comprehend the writing. I am not an expert on the subject either, I am also just a fellow student trying to learn about microbial influence on human health but after understanding what I am reading I do have my own opinions that I can back up and I can compare it to what the author has written. I’ve learnt that I should also meticulously check my own essay afterward to before turning in my final draft to ensure that the flow is good and everything is how I want it to be.
