Week 1 Blog Post: Job Application Experience

My most recent job application experience was just over the course of the past few months. I applied for an internship for a construction company called Hayden Homes, where I will be shadowing a project manager this upcoming summer in the Willamette Valley area. Compared to my previous job where all I did was send an email to a contractor and then was on the construction site working the next monday; This was a lot more professional. I went through two interviews, one with an employee experience director, and then the next one with the senior project manager who I will be shadowing this summer. After going through the interviews, we outlined times I could be available to work this summer, and then was sent an official offer letter, which I signed and returned. It went over company expectations and also had my job description on it. I then took a background investigation questionnaire to make sure I can be a reliable and trusted coworker. I am now in the process of onboarding documents and preparing for the new member orientation. This was a great networking and application experience that really opened my eyes to the professionalism of the business industry. It was also a good test of patience as all of these events took place over the course of the past three months.

The professionalism throughout the application process with Hayden Homes has me extremely excited to work for them this summer. The people I interviewed with were very friendly and seemed encouraged to bring me onto the team. Everyone I have spoke with or emailed during the process has been very helpful and seem to be excited about what they are doing at work. This process has me definitely looking forward to becoming a part of such a reputable and established company this summer, and I am eager to be able to add this internship to my resume.
