Blog #6 -Interviews

Interviews, interviews, and more interviews. I’ve had 7 interviews in the past two weeks (4 different companies). The job hunting process went from no interviews to an overwhelming amount very quickly. I wish I could say the process is fun, but it has been very stressful.

It has affected my ability to complete my coursework and I just want the process to be over with so that I can enjoy the last moments of my days as a student. This is where it gets really rough. I got a great job offer from a large and respectable company in another city, an offer that many would kill for. But it would mean that my girlfriend would have to quit her job and move for me. She’s in a niche field, making it difficult for her to find good opportunities. It feels selfish of me to prioritize my career over her own, so it is still an open discussion as to whether I’ll accept it or not.

I know I could find something else locally if I keep searching, but I’m just not sure of the quality of the offer that I’ll get. Or if it’ll send me down a lower quality career path. I don’t have much of a network, so I’m reliant on my past employer’s references and experience to land a job. It feels like such a huge moment in my life and I don’t know what I’ll do. Whatever I choose, it won’t be a decision made on my own. And it definitely won’t be easy…
