Interview Blog

Looking back at my job history I actually haven’t had many interviews for the jobs that I have had. I have only had one interview and it was for a Pizza delivery job that I took in high school. It wasn’t much of an interview in my opinion it was more of a walk through on what the job consists of. I was taken through the restaurant and showed where everything is and what I would be doing. I wasn’t asked any questions and it seemed to me like it was pretty much my first day on the job. After showing me around he told me what the pay was and asked if I wanted the job. He was very unenthusiastic and seemed like he did this all day with other people. I ended up taking the job and then leaving after about a month because I never got to deliver one pizza even though I applied as a delivery driver. It was very frustrating to say the least. I think going back I would have wanted to sit down for a little and ask more questions about what I would be doing and make sure it was what I signed up for.

My experience was at a pizza place so the interview process isn’t as important as higher level jobs. I haven’t had an interview because now I work at a family business, but id assume they are much more in depth and important. I would hope they ask more questions to the interviewee and vice versa. They should also have some type of questionnaire or test to make sure that they person is qualified for the job they are hiring for. Lastly, I would hope they make the interviewee feel more wanted then I felt at my interview. Making them feel like they want to work at the company is very important for finding the best available workers. If you ask engaging questions, have a well developed recruitment message and get your company values across and make them feel wanted it will help attract the best employees.
