Project so far
Heading into the second week of the project, things seem to be movie forward pretty well. So far, my group is very much in the planning/setup stage for this project. Thankfully, my group seems to be filled with people that are pretty comfortable communicating with one another, which makes setting everything up way easier and keeps everyone on the same page. Our group decided to primarily communicate through Microsoft Teams, use GitHub for our code repository, and manage our project with a Kanban board on ClickUp. We also worked as a team on a Google Doc to write our team standards. The only setback we have experienced so far is with making contact with our project sponsor. We sent an email as a group pretty quickly after getting assigned to our group and have yet to get a response. We are going to send a follow-up email tonight, and then contact the instructor for further guidance if we don’t receive a response. The fact that we haven’t spoken with our sponsor has somewhat impacted our ability to plan and finish our team standards and project plan as we are not sure what all information they are going to provide us. Being that our project deals with a subject that none of us have much practical experience with (tracking satellites with iOS ARKit), we are all hoping for a large amount of information and guidance. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed. As it stands, that’s all the information I have regarding the capstone project.
Mobile Development
Along with this class, I am also taking to Mobile Development. It has only been a week, but Mobile Dev has already been one of my favorite classes I’ve taken in the program. It’s an interesting class because I don’t think that it is inherently easy, but so far it has been laid out in a way that makes the material easy to learn and understand. So far, a lot of the exercises and assignments are just walkthroughs, but I definitely prefer it to most of the other classes I’ve taken where I felt like I was much more on my own when things went awry. I believe that this approach has made it easier for me to learn Dart and Flutter, both of which I don’t have any prior experience with. As I said earlier, so far I am having good experience in the class and look forward to more complicated projects in the future.
