Invertebrate Crop Pests Lab

Services

April 10th, 2017

Our mission is to help solve one of the critical issues facing agriculture, the issue of invasive, often non-native gastropod (snail/slug). All parties involved from local grass seed growers in Oregon to global agricultural organizations, recognize the need to develop a means of control that is both friendly to the natural environment and cost effective. We are currently investigating novel methods to help farmers reduce general spraying and the application of slug pellets. The development and growth of organic pesticides is a major focus of ours. It is also possible to implement small changes to the farming regime which may facilitate the growth of natural enemy populations to the pest reducing numbers and controlling crop damage biologically. Get in touch with a member of our team if you are a farmer in Oregon dealing with invasions of snails or slugs and we will do our best to give practical advice on control. We would also love to stop by and remove some slugs for research purposes.
