The option I chose was the second option:
Option 2: International HRM
The country I chose to move to for this scenario is Japan. As a Construction Engineer, I have the opportunity of many different job openings as construction is always ongoing, and people always want new things to be built. Japan is known as a relatively sophisticated, with a lot of advanced technology and cool integration methods. This makes certain parts of the country a hub for infrastructure and technology, however, there are also many underdeveloped areas that would be less focused on expansion. Finding the right job location within the country would be key, particularly in a bigger prefecture such as Tokyo or Osaka.
According to CarryGoo, Japan experiences “continuous growth in urban development, infrastructure improvements, and significant rebuilding projects after natural disasters,” and “is expected to remain in high demand for skilled labor, including foreign workers.” This makes it a very good place to go in terms of development, and the positions needed for projects remains relatively the same. While building methods may vary a little bit, all processes, in terms of employees, contractor-subcontractor relations, and job bidding are all very similar in Japan and the US. This would make for a relatively smooth transition, with a lot of room for growth.
