When it comes to a company’s success, every company has their own opinion on which factors are the most important, and what most of their resources should be allocated too. This could be a variety of things. Some of these could be quality of their product, customer service, marketing campaigns, and the most overlooked thing which is recruitment and selection.
Organizations often allocate more resources to things other than recruitment and selection because they believe those are the things that will lead them to ultimate success. However, the importance of staffing is more than critical to a company that wants to have a great culture, environment, and a group of employees who can work efficiently together to help the company achieve great success.
Opportunity cost is a huge factor that I believe many companies’ overlook. You may have an employee who can get the job done, but if that company allocated more resources to recruitment and selection, they could have had an employee who is twice as efficient and much better at their job, resulting in a much better revenue or profit in that category.
Companies may think that marketing, quality, or customer service are the most important things in their business, but it really comes down to the employees who are working in those fields of the company. Which only goes to show that recruitment and selection is very likely the most important aspect of a business because these employees you hire are the ones who are running your company.
