I am lucky enough to have a great team for the capstone. I feel like throughout the majority of this program, I have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for group projects; I think I can safely say that isn’t the case this time around. My team consists of two individuals with industry jobs: one has something like 10+ years experience, the second I have known throughout a few courses and is just as smart as the first.
I have to say this is a welcome experience and great learning opportunity for myself. They communicate in ways that I would expect teammates in a typical developer job would. They work fast and know what they are talking about which pushes me to be better. To me, I am treating this as almost an internship in a way – I ask a lot of questions and luckily they have been great in helping answer them. I appreciate that they know I can pull my own weight but it might take me a little longer to get things going. I don’t know that I could ask for anything better in a learning experience that emulates a real world scenario.
I’m looking forward to how our project ends up and the growth i’ll see at the end of it – I am definitely not going to let this great learning opportunity go to waste!
