As decades have passed, the pay of CEO’s have grown substantially to the point where some make 500 times more than a regular employees. CEO’s do have a crucial role in the companies success and future, however I do not see that amount of performance equaling such a drastic pay gap within the companies pay role. For me, this just shows the pay inequity in the company. As stated in the lecture video, the CEO’s pay does not change or is not reflected on the companies profit. So in the instance that the company is declining, the CEO takes no hit financial. This shouldn’t be the case as they are one of the main factors on how the company performs. On top of this, the CEO’s compensation adds to His\/her wealth. Their ability to get stock options for very cheap is also another safety net they are gifted. As the company grows, they reap the rewards that others couldn’t imagine. They also have the ability to pull their shares without repercussions. This act is illegal most of the time. As an employee, this would be very discouraging for me. Knowing my CEO who only puts a bit of effort to tip the scale is profiting off all of the employees hard work. This system of the rich get richer has gotten worse since time has gone on. It is not fair that CEO’s make millions of dollars while essential workers are barely scrapping by to pay rent and buy the necessities especially during the times we are living in right now. Overall, I do believe that CEO’s should be paid more when it comes to others within the company. This pay should be recognizable with their work but not a difference of millions of dollars. For benefits, I like the idea of stock options as it promotes motivation for the CEO to make the company more successful and better in the future. I also liked performance bonuses when thinking about CEO compensation. Making the CEO have a desire to want to be better sets an example for other wanting to climb ranks. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Executive compensation is definitely a debatable topic when in comes to pay.
