Writing Exercise #1

I don’t know very many diseases for certain that are influenced by microorganisms, however during my fall term of this school year, my medical terminology professor Nolan presented us a research paper he had published which had dealt with the impacts of the gut microbiome on diabetes. Although I believe other disease may be influenced by microorganisms such as Asthma. As we learned in class H. Pylori was present in gastric cancer and ulcers, microorganisms can be the cause or a catalyst that leads to the constricting of airways in the lungs. As there are many different issues that occur with asthma like an excess of mucus being produced, microorganisms can affect a disease like that in more ways than just constricting the airways, microorganisms can also be to blame for the excess mucus being produced. Similarly, cystic fibrosis, a hereditary disease, can be influenced by microorganisms. The genes that cause cystic fibrosis can potentially be genes that influence a defense mechanism against the microorganisms.
