Managerial Reflection
One day, I aspire to be the type of manager who encourages employee growth and advancement throughout all stages of an employee’s career. I want to be a resource they can depend on to learn and ask what is needed to take the next step toward the goals they aim to reach within the company. I aim to utilize strategic planning to help the team achieve its objectives, thereby instilling confidence in my ability to perform as an exceptional leader within a team environment. The aspects that will be most challenging as a manager are the communication between team members when their performance isn’t meeting the necessary standard for their role. As a manager, it would be something I would have to discuss one-on-one with the individual and explain where they need to improve and what might be holding them back from succeeding. Giving impactful, direct, but respectful feedback might be one of the most important parts of becoming a manager within a company. There is a saying that people don’t quit jobs, they quit managers, which is something I never want someone to feel when having me as their manager. Helping people grow constructively while being positive and direct is something I am determined to master to be able to have the most productive team possible.
